Colorful App Miffy's World Invites Preschoolers to Learn and Play

Created by artist Dick Bruna in 1955, Miffy the white rabbit has been featured in picture books, television series, and a movie. Now, she's also the star of her own app: Miffy's World. Developed by StoryToys, the 3D interactive app invites kids to explore Miffy's colorful world.

Meet Miffy

In Miffy's World, kids join Miffy on her daily adventures. They start by waking her up then they help her choose what to wear, brush her teeth, go potty, or take a bath. Afterwards, they can go downstairs to meet her family members and explore various rooms in her home. They can also go outside and have fun in the garden. At the end of the day, when Miffy is tired, they can tuck her into bed and wait for a new day to arrive.

The Mini Games

The Very Hungry Caterpillar offers a wide variety of mini games that allow kids to learn about basic shapes, color shades, scale comparison, and pattern sequences. Kids start by matching 2-6 basic shapes, such as circles, triangles, and squares. Then, they sort shades of color. Next, they put colored balls into the matching paint buckets.

Eric Carle’s beloved character The Very Hungry Caterpillar may have made its debut on paper, but nowadays it’s also making a splash in apps. Last year we saw it emerge as a butterfly in The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Friends Play and Explore, then we got to take care of it in My Very Hungry Caterpillar. Recently, it has also taken a liking to teaching preschoolers their first words.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Friends First Words is the latest in the StoryToys Jr line aimed at toddlers and preschoolers. As you might have guessed from the title, the app introduces early learners to their first words. It includes over 80 words, from farm animals to family, with colorful illustrations by Eric Carle himself.

My First Words

Like many StoryToys apps, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Friends First Words is made to look like a book sitting on top of a table. You flip the pages (or use the navigational arrows) to reveal an interactive 3D pop-up scene. A gentle narration introduces each page with a playful rhyme:
