There are many puzzles for kids out there but none as intriguing as Comomola Planets. The colorful app, made by Barcelona-based development team Comomola, offers rotating puzzles that test your logic and concentration.
Solve the Puzzle to Create Your Own Galaxy
In Comomola Planets, kids drag slices of terrain to populate barren planets and bring life to the galaxy. Each slice can only fit in one spot, for example, a grassy piece must connect to grassy lands, a watery piece can only touch bodies of water, and so on. The challenge lies in reflexes and timing: the planet spins all the time so kids will have to be quick with their hands.
As the game progresses and more planets are unlocked, kids also discover an array of challenges. Some terrain pieces may have additional behaviors: they can have two colors, and can be moved or rotated as needed. There are also two new game modes: night mode, in which only a fraction of the planet can be seen at a time, and an express which imposes a time limit for completing a planet.
There are, in all, 30 planets to play with and more than 100 unique pieces. You'll see that the pieces have a variety of themes, including landmarks, buildings, animals, extraterrestrial creatures, and more. This keeps the game interesting even when kids have mastered its basic mechanics.
Parents Need to Know
Comomola Planets is free to download for iPhone and iPad. This initial download gives you access to the first 10 planets. If you wish to unlock the full game, you'll have to make a single in-app purchase. The app has no third-party ads and does not require an Internet connection.
Things I Like
Comomola Planets gives a unique twist to the humble jigsaw puzzle. Though the mechanics are fairly simple, the execution is flawless, thus you get a truly cool app for the whole family. With so many planets to explore and multiple game modes to try, kids will never have a dull moment in the game. On the contrary, they are going to be excited about what they will discover next: will the new planet have dinosaurs or aliens? Will it have more oceans and ice caps or grasslands?
As kids play, they hone their logic, concentration, and hand-eye coordination. The timed mode also challenges kids' reflexes. Overall, this is a terrific app that kids between 4-8 years of age will enjoy!
I highly recommend Comomola Planets if your kids love puzzles and exploration. It's cute, well made, and a lot of fun to play. Kids will love discovering new surprises every time they play, and parents can count on the app to help kids improve their logic, concentration, and hand-eye coordination.
