The beloved Dr. Panda has had many successful ventures over the years, including a farm and a candy factory. Now, he's once again open for business in Dr. Panda Cafe. In this brand new app, kids get accustomed to the processes involved in running a coffee shop, including taking orders, making coffee, and taking care of customers.
Have a Cup
Just like a real cafe, there is plenty to do in Dr. Panda Cafe. Kids start by seating the customers that come through the door and taking their orders. Then, they prepare the snacks and drinks, and bring the orders to the customers. When the customers are done eating, they receive the payment and clean up the tables.
Kids start with minimal selection of food and drinks, and unlock more by serving more customers and making them happy. There are 25 kinds of food and drinks to collect, from coffees and teas to cakes and pizzas. Each food and drink can also be customized with toppings, such as chocolate and ice cream.
Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Dr. Panda Cafe features an open-ended gameplay without any rules, scores, or punishments. Even though the customers at the cafe have to wait to get their order, they do not get angry. This stress-free approach makes the app suitable even for younger kids.
The app has no third-party ads and in-app purchases. All links to external sites are secured by a parental gate. You don't need an Internet connection to use the app.
Things I Like
Dr. Panda Cafe is a great way to inspire compassion and patience in kids. By serving all sorts of customers in the game, kids learn to take care of others. They also learn to read social cues, such as nodding or shaking one's head, and respond appropriately.
In addition to promoting emotional intelligence, the app gives kids a glimpse of what it is like to run a cafe. With so many things to do—from greeting customers to cleaning up tables—they learn to split up tasks and get organized. On the other hand, the gameplay is very forgiving that they won't feel pressured.
Like all Dr. Panda apps, Dr. Panda Cafe has many details that make the game a lot of fun. You can, for example, feed Toto with various snacks while preparing the order. You can also feed the cafe's pet goldfish, play the guitar, and change the drawing on the chalkboard. If you're observant, you might also catch a UFO flying past!
Dr. Panda Cafe is a terrific restaurant game for kids. It's not only a lot of fun to play, but it also helps kids learn to take care of others and read social cues. The open-ended nature of the game makes it accessible for all ages. Highly recommended.
