Thailand is a popular travel destination for good reasons: the people are friendly, the culture is fascinating, and the weather is pleasant most of the time. If a trip to Thailand is on your family’s bucket list but you haven’t yet the chance to go, jigsaw puzzle game Travel Puzzle Thailand brings the bustling city of Bangkok to your iPad.
Let’s Visit Bangkok
In Travel Puzzle Thailand, kids drag and drop puzzle pieces to build a tuk tuk and ride it through the streets of Bangkok. They also complete 8 unfinished scenes to discover, among others, Thailand’s major tourist attractions and local wildlife.
Designed for toddlers, the app has no time limit and no rules. Instead, it focuses on serving fun interactions that engage kids in learning. For example, kids can tap the animals to watch silly animations, or tap a citizen to hear them say, “Sawadika!” (meaning hello in Thai). And when all the puzzles have been solved, kids can recreate the hectic Bangkok traffic by adding vehicles such as motorbikes, ambulances, buses, and taxis.
Parents Need to Know
Travel Puzzle Thailand is the brainchild of two dads, Jase and Geir, who want to create something that kids will love. The goal of the app is for kids to have fun learning about an exotic place — in this case Bangkok — while developing their hand-eye coordination and problem solving skills. It is designed for independent play, although grown-ups are welcome to accompany their kids.
Travel Puzzle Thailand is free to download and play. It contains no in-app purchases and no third-party advertising.
Things I Like
Travel is a wonderful form of education, but it’s not always feasible for a number of reasons. Travel Puzzle Thailand is a fun way for kids to experience a new and far-off place, but in the comfort of their home. You can use the app to discuss with your kids about Bangkok’s culture and how it might be different from your own. For example, what can be found in Bangkok but not in your city or country? Or, what is the most interesting element they’ve picked up from the puzzle?
All in all, this is a small and simple app that has been designed very well. The graphics are bright and colorful, the music is nice, and the controls are easy to use. One thing I’d like to see is a handy guide that explain the things/places in the puzzle, so grown-ups can share the information with the kids.
Travel Puzzle Thailand is a cute little app that takes kids on a virtual tour through the fascinating streets of Bangkok. At the same time kids are developing problem solving skills, they are also expanding their horizon of the world. If your family enjoys visiting new places, give the app a try.
