With Halloween coming up at the end of this month, you might be wondering what themed games you can introduce to your kids. Well, wonder no more. Labo Halloween Car is a fun car platform game for kids ages 5+ with 12 challenging stages and a background music that fits the theme.
Race Your Way to the Labo Lado House
The objective of this game is pretty straightforward. Drive your chosen car across the challenging terrains to get to the Labo Lado House. To move forward, simply tap and hold the bottom right corner of your iPad. To move backward, tap and hold the bottom left corner instead.
The game has 12 stages with increasing difficulty. Before you start your journey, you can select your favorite car from the available options. If you want to, you can even draw your own car.
Once you select a car, you’re ready for your first challenge. As you navigate the terrain, you may need to jump over a pitfall or climb a hill. To do that, you may need to move backward a bit then accelerate forward by holding the gas continuously. The game will slowly increase your speed so you can jump over or climb up. You won’t need to tap an additional button to jump. Just make sure that you go fast enough.
Sometimes, you may find your car upside down. If this happens, simply tap the flip icon on the left hand side of the screen to flip the car. You may also need to hold the gas to help the car flip.
Once you have completed a challenge, the game will give you a reward. To get the full three-star reward, you need to complete the challenge under a certain period of time. We don’t know how much time the threshold for each stage is, but always try to finish the challenge as soon as possible if you want to get all the stars.
Parents Need to Know
Finding a fun and suitable game for your kids can sometimes be a challenge on its own. My six-year-old Philip is a good example for this. He loves to play racing games like Asphalt 8, but he can't stand the ongoing assault of ads shown to him. Hence, a fun themed car-based game like Labo Halloween Car is welcomed in our home. I think kids ages 5+ can play most of the challenging stages.
Labo Halloween Car can be played without an Internet connection. It doesn't have any third-party ads, in-app purchases, or links to social networks.
Things I Like
Labo Halloween Car has many of the great gameplays expected from a platformer game. For example, you are required to jump over pitfall, avoid deadly spikes, time your movement, and use levers and balloons to reach higher platforms. And since you're using a car to drive through the platforms, it can be quite a challenging task to maintain certain speed and momentum, especially if you're required to jump and avoid a swinging pendulum.
It also has the more advanced techniques in platformer games, such as knocking down platforms to create new pathways, and selecting the best possible ways from two or three options available. And I think the developer has done a great job of illustrating the environment and providing the matching background music to keep the players in the Halloween mood.
If your kids love car platformer games, Labo Halloween Car is a fun one to play. Not only would you be able to play with all the fun and quirky cars, but you can also draw your own cars to drive through the stages. It has the matching terrains and background music that makes it a great game to play during the Halloween season.
