Drafts Action Directory
Welcome to my Drafts Action Directory. This directory contains pre-configured custom URL actions that I have discussed on my Productivity and Workflow blog. These actions are standalone. They do not require you to install any other URL actions before you can use them. They may require you to have other apps though, such as Launch Center Pro, Chrome, Fantastical, Due, Tweetbot, Day One, Silo, and 1Writer.
To install an action, simply tap the Install link from your iOS device. You can modify these actions from within Drafts settings. For more information on these actions, tap the Read More link associated with each action.
Create URL Action
If you want to compose your own custom URL actions in Drafts, you're going to need this action. This is one of my most frequently used actions. It will create a new URL action in Drafts whose name equals to [[title]] and the URL equals to [[body]] of the current post.
Requires: Drafts 2.5
URL Encode Draft to Clipboard
When you're composing your own custom URL actions in Drafts, you often find yourself in need of a simple URL encoding service to encode parts of your action. If you have Launch Center Pro installed, you can use this action to encode the current content of your post and store the encoded version in the clipboard.
Requires: Drafts 2.5 and Launch Center Pro 1.1
Search on Geeks with Juniors
This is a simple action that I use quite often to find my own posts that have been published earlier. It will take the content of the current post in Drafts and use it as a search keyword for a site search on Geeks with Juniors. The result will be shown in Chrome.
Requires: Drafts 2.5 and Chrome
Add Events/Reminders to Fantastical
This simple action allows you to convert each line in your current Drafts post into separate events/reminders in Fantastical.
Requires: Drafts 3.5.4 and Fantastical 2
Add Reminders to Due
Similar to the previous action, this action allows you to convert each line in your current Drafts post into separate reminders in Due. If you're using Drafts 3.5, you might want to stop returning to Drafts on your last reminder to avoid an infinite loop.
Requires: Drafts 3.5.4 and Due 1.8
Add Task to Silo and Wait
Similar to the previous two actions, this action allows you to convert each line in your current Drafts post into separate tasks in Silo. Silo allows you to insert each new task into an existing list or a newly created list. Because Silo doesn't show you the task being added, I decided to make this recursive action waits for user input to continue adding the next line in Drafts. This allows you to see what's being added to Silo next.
Requires: Drafts 2.5 and Silo 1.0.5
This action allows you to share the first three lines of [[draft]] to any number of built-in actions, Email Actions, Message Actions, Dropbox Actions, and Evernote Actions in Drafts. Simply write the action names one line at a time, starting from [[line|4]]. For example, you can crosspost to Twitter, App.net, Facebook and Google+ without having to create any custom actions.
Requires: Drafts 3.5
This action allows you to sync the changes you made to a text file in your Dropbox folder using Launch Center Pro's [prompt] and 1Writer's replace URL. You need to map the Dropbox folders that you want to use in 1Writer, and use the mapped folder name as the parameter for the 1Writer URL.
Requires: Drafts 2.5, 1Writer 1.2, and Launch Center Pro 2.0
Meet Someone for an Hour
This action allows you to create an event in Fantastical to meet someone for an hour and embed a URL to search for a pre-defined 60-minute timer in Due entitled "1-Hour Meeting". The idea is to trigger the timer when the event starts. You may need to activate the Fantastical alarm to trigger at the time of the event.
Requires: Drafts 3.0.6, Due 1.9.5, and Fantastical 1.1.
Add a Pomodoro Task to Due
This action allows you to create a task in Due and embed a URL to search for a Pomodoro timer in Due. A Pomodoro timer is a pre-defined timer that adheres to the 25-minute task duration defined by Pomodoro Technique. The idea is to trigger the timer when the task starts.
Requires: Drafts 2.5 and Due 1.9.5.
Add Pomodoro Tasks to Due
This action is an expansion of the previous action. It allows you to convert multiple lines in Drafts into Pomodoro tasks in Due. If you're using Drafts 3.5, you might want to stop returning to Drafts on your last task to avoid an infinite loop.
Requires: Drafts 3.5.4 and Due 1.9.5.
This action will prepare an email draft containing the recipient, subject and body, based on your Drafts post; and store it as a reminder in Due. The first line of your post will be treated as the email recipient, the second line as the email subject, and the third line as the date/time when you want to be reminded. The fourth line up to the end of the draft are reserved for the email body.
Requires: Drafts 3.5, Due 1.8, and Launch Center Pro 1.1
Call Someone Later
This action will create a reminder in Due to call someone in your Contacts using Launch Center Pro's dial URL. The recipient name will be stored by the reminder into the clipboard just in time for the call. You need to paste the clipboard content into the Launch Center Pro's dial search box to find the appropriate contact before making the call.
Requires: Drafts 3.0, Due 1.8, and Launch Center Pro 1.1
App Gone Free
This action allows you to set a reminder in Due to search for an app that has just gone free. This is very useful if you're trying to download an app larger than 50 MB while you're on a 3G connection. As a bonus, you can share the news with your friends via Tweetbot.
Requires: Drafts 3.0.6, Due 1.8, and Tweetbot 1.3
This action allows you to set a reminder in Due to write a full journal in Day One regarding an event that has just occurred at the time you're setting the reminder. The first line of your Drafts post will be used as the title of the new Day One post, whereas the second line is used as the date/time when you want to be reminded.
Requires: Drafts 2.5, Due 1.8, and Day One 1.5.5
This action allows you to send an iMessage that embeds a custom URL scheme that would allow the recipient to add it as a new Reminder in Due, if she has Due installed and is willing to add the reminder. Simply create a new post in Drafts with the recipient's email address as the first line, and the reminder text that will be parsed by Due on the second line.
Requires: Drafts 2.5, Due 1.8, and Launch Center Pro 1.1
