The Gruffalo is back, and he's brought the forest animals along to play. Kids can join the beloved characters in Gruffalo: Puzzles, a collection of mini games from Magic Light Pictures.
Puzzles with the Gruffalo
In Gruffalo: Puzzles, kids play against or alongside Gruffalo and friends in six different games. The games feature a mix of new and familiar mechanics, for example, Mouse Match is based on the classic pairs while Forest Race is an original design where kids clear a track and race the characters.
The other games are Paint with Fox, in which kids try to color drawings the same way as Fox, and Gruffalo Marbles, in which kids are pitted against the Gruffalo to knock the most marbles off a tree trunk. In Owl's Odd One Out, kids help the Owl fly to his treetop house by choosing the odd one out of the group. And in Snake Maze, they help the Snake navigate through a maze.
Kids can choose whichever game they want to play from the main screen. They can also choose from three difficulty levels: bronze, silver, or gold. Kids must clear each level before they can proceed to the next one.
Parents Need to Know
Gruffalo: Puzzles is aimed at ages 3-6, but I would say the hardest levels might still be challenging for older kids (ages 7-8). Note that the app provides instructions through text, so younger kids might require assistance from adults.
The app has no third-party ads and no in-app purchases. A secured section for parents, accessible from the main screen, contains the options to reset the game and to change the app's language. No Internet connection is necessary to use the app.
Things I Like
Gruffalo: Puzzles is a great app. It's not only a lot of fun, but also useful for developing hand-eye coordination, memory, and problem solving skills. My favorite is Paint with Fox, which is an excellent way to test both the memory and ability to recognize colors. Because each game has three levels of difficulty, kids from either ends of the age spectrum can properly enjoy the app at their own pace.
The app is really well made with gorgeous illustrations and animations. I also enjoyed listening to the background music as it's quite soothing and it has a whimsical feel to it. Overall, the app is engaging and would make an excellent companion for kids during road trips or on a rainy day.
Gruffalo: Puzzles is a must-have for fans of The Gruffalo. This beautiful app offers a variety of games that are not only enjoyable to play but also beneficial for kids' cognitive development. Because there are three difficulty levels, kids of various abilities can enjoy the app.
