Farm animals are a popular topic with young kids, and are often featured in kids' media. We also have our selection of apps with farm animals, but today I'd like to highlight one app that is made specially for young kids: Nano Bear Farm Animals.

Learn About 11 Farm Animals

Nano Bear Farm Animals is a colorful app in which kids explore interactive scenes depicting various farm animals, and discover the sounds that each animal makes. It's very simple and suitable for babies and toddlers.

To navigate between the scenes, you use the arrows on the bottom of the screen. You then tap each animal to hear the sound it makes. After every third scene, the app presents you with a flashcard-style quiz: listen to the sound, and guess which animal makes that sound.

In all, there are 11 different animals and 4 quizzes to discover in the app. Kids can also try to find the app's mascots, Nano Bear and Junior Monkey, who are hiding in every scene.

Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that Nano Bear Farm Animals is intended for very young kids—ages three and under. It's very easy to use, and there is no text. Overall, it's a solid choice for your baby's first app.

The app has no third-party adverts or in-app purchases. A protected section, accessible on the app's main screen, contains a letter from the developer and links to the other apps in the Nano Bear series.

The sound effects vary for each animal. For example, the rooster crows while the chicks chirp

Things I Like

Nano Bear Farm Animals is a gorgeous app with bright, colorful graphics and friendly characters that keep kids engaged and excited to learn. I appreciate that each animal has its own unique sound. In the scene with the chickens, for example, the rooster crows while the hen clucks and the chicks chirp. Beyond the animal sounds, kids can also learn where each animal lives and what it eats.

The only downside to this app is its large file size—it's over 700 MB. It's not a deal-breaker, but it would be nice if it were reduced. And while we're talking about wishes, I would love to have each animal named by a narrator.

The app also includes simple, flashcard-style quizzes in which kids guess which animal makes the sound they hear

Conclusion

I highly recommend Nano Bear Farm Animals if you are looking for a simple, educational app for babies and toddlers. It's really cute and engaging but not addictive. It's also free of ads and in-app purchases, so it's safe for kids.

If you like Nano Bear Farm Animals, don't forget to check out the other apps in the series! I have tried (and loved) Nano Bear Rainforest Animals, which introduces kids to exotic animals like the toucan, monkey, and tiger.
