The Greek gods and goddesses, as figures enveloped in magic and mystery, are always fascinating to learn about. Your kids, too, can discover more about these mythical deities in the fun puzzle game Match and Learn The Greek Gods.

Match the Puzzle

In this interactive app from Petita Demas, kids match tiles of animated drawings to complete the pictures of 12 unique gods and goddesses: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, hermes, and Hestia. When a puzzle has been solved, the deity's name and unique power are revealed. Each deity also gets a short poem that highlights their story, for example, Apollo is the god of music who loves poems and songs, as well as playing the lyre and singing.

Suitable for 2-6 years old, the app has several modes of play designed to provide different levels of engagement. Kids can play with 3 or 6 tiles, respectively, or challenge their ability to solve puzzles as quickly as possible in the Time Attack mode. Alternatively, they can skip the puzzles altogether to read about each deity in the Learn mode.

Parents Need to Know

Stories about the Greek gods and goddesses are not always filled with sunshine and rainbows, but rest assured that Match and Learn The Greek Gods is appropriate for kids. From the artwork to the poem for each deity, the overall mood is lighthearted. Narration and text highlighting are also included to help young kids follow along.

A neat feature that might not be immediately apparent is the ability to create a personalized experience for your child. Go to the Parents' section, then enter your child's name to have every poem start with a personal greeting.

Things I Like

Match and Learn The Greek Gods is a neat game with very little fuss. It's very simple to use, but once picked up it's not so easy to put down. There is a lot of fun to be had just by swiping the tiles, even if they are mismatched, to see what picture would emerge.

Appearance-wise, the app is a treat to behold. The characters have a quirkiness to them and the animated details are quite lovely. The excellent narration also manages to capture each god's unique personality.
