You've probably caught me saying many times that kids learn best when they’re playing and having fun. If they’re singing along, that would double the fun. That’s why I think toddlers aged 3 and up would have a great time playing the HooplaKidz Nursery Rhymes Activities app.
The app features 20 nursery rhymes. There is a game for each song so kids can play as they listen and sing along. This is simply the best way for toddlers to have fun while improving their skills at the same time.
Play the Games and Sing Along
The main menu shows all the songs in a scrollable image. Kids can select any song they like, and they will be taken to the game for that song. For example, choosing the ABC Song will take them to a game where they match letters of the alphabet as instructed by the narration. In another example, the song Pop Goes the Weasel has a game where kids trace an underground route to the weasel while collecting fruits along the way.
There are all kinds of unique games that kids can find in HooplaKidz Nursery Rhymes Activities. They can match bottles based on the numbers printed on them in Ten Green Bottles, or find sheep with matching colors in Baa Baa Black Sheep. They can also play a simple matching game in Animal Fair, or match parts of a school bus in Wheels on the Bus.
Other games include a memory card game in Muffin Man, catching falling fruits in Five Little Monkeys, and a dress-up game featuring the characters in Jack and Jill. Make sure you try all the games.
Parents Need to Know
HooplaKidz Nursery Rhymes includes 20 different nursery rhymes, from the more popular ones (such as Hickory Dickory Dock) to the less familiar ones (such as One, Two, Buckle My Shoe). Each song offers a fun way for kids to know the song while improving their visual comprehension and hand-eye coordination.
For example, in the Row Row Your Boat game, kids need to tap the left/right buttons or swipe left/right to steer the boat as it drifts along the river. Other games that also require good hand-eye coordination are the jigsaw puzzles, such as the Humpty Dumpty game where kids construct Humpty Dumpty's wall, and the Itsy Bitsy Spider game where they arrange pipe pieces to fix the water pipes.
HooplaKidz Nursery Rhymes works great without an Internet connection. It doesn't include any third-party ads, in-app purchases, or links to social networks. The app is available in two versions: full (paid upfront) and trial (free). You can download the free trial version to evaluate before purchasing the full version.
Things I Like
I really enjoy the different games in HooplaKidz Nursery Rhymes Activities, and love how they are designed to match the context of the songs. One of my favorites is the sticker play, where you place stickers onto a particular background to create your own story. For example, you can create your own farm in Old MacDonald or a night sky in Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
The other game that I really like is the spot-the-differences game. While the Ice Cream Song is playing, you’re challenged to find five differences between two pictures. It’s not a trivial task, and the app generates the pictures randomly to give you a different challenge each time you replay it.
HooplaKidz Nursery Rhymes Activities offers a fun way for toddlers ages 3+ to play and learn while singing along to 20 popular nursery rhymes. There are a lot of games — enough to keep them excited to play over and over again. Don’t be surprised if they also learn a new song or two after playing it.
