Crafting is a great activity to keep kids active during breaks and holidays. It’s also inexpensive: there are lots projects that include things you already have at home. In the TutoTod app, you will find 140 fun and easy craft tutorials that can all be made using only 6 basic supplies: paper, scissors, toilet paper roll, markers, twine, and glue.
Easy and Fun Crafts for Kids
TutoTod is a simple app. To begin, you simply select the supplies and tools you have at hand, then select a craft from the list. Every tutorial comes with step-by-step instructions and real-life photos so that it’s easy to follow. Some tutorials also include handy tips for motivating your kids and getting the most out of the project.
Even though the crafts in TutoTod vary in difficulty, in general they are simple enough for kids aged 6 and up. In the craft selection screen, you can see the estimated time for each project. The quickest project takes just 5 minutes whereas the more complex ones take around 30 minutes.
Once you have completed a craft, you can take a picture of it to share with your family and friends. The craft will also be marked in the selection screen so you can keep track of the projects you’ve tackled.
Parents Need to Know
When you buy TutoTod, you get 50 basic crafts. Additional theme packages are available as in-app purchases (IAPs), such as the Summer package, Christmas package, and Halloween package. As the names imply, the crafts included in these packages are designed around specific themes. These IAPs are optional and protected with a parental gate. The app has no third-party adverts.
When using TutoTod for the first time, do note that your device needs to be connected to the Internet in order to download the photos for the tutorials. Once the photos have been downloaded you will able to use the app while offline.
Things I Like
If you are constantly looking for ideas to nurture your kids’ creativity, you will find TutoTod a valuable resource. It offers lots of fun and easy crafts that you can make together with your kids. Each project can be made with very limited supplies, but if you have additional resources it is also possible to “improve” your crafts. For example, you can add glitter or stickers, use colored paper instead of plain paper, and more.
What I like best about the app is that it’s all about recycling and resourcefulness. It shows that you don’t need a lot to be creativity — all it takes is a little creativity. The crafts are also wonderful for developing fine motor skills, especially in younger kids.
Besides the valuable crafting process, many of the TutoTod crafts are toys and tools that help kids with skills such as reading and counting. For example, in the Embroidery project, kids thread a piece of twine through paper to spell their name. In Tic-Tac-Toe, they recreate the classic game using pieces of twine.
Looking for easy craft projects for kids? TutoTod is an excellent choice. This well-made app has 140 craft tutorials that help kids develop creativity, imagination, and fine motor skills. Because each craft can be made with limited and inexpensive supplies, kids also learn that they don’t need a lot to be able to make useful things. Highly recommended for ages 6 and up.
