Many kids love playing pretend because it allows them to imagine and create their own world. Pepi House is a digital dollhouse in which kids can play house and develop their imagination and communication skills. Loaded with interactive elements, it’s an engaging toy for children in modern times.

Play House with the Pepi Family

In Pepi House, kids discover a lovely house inhabited by the happy Pepi family. The house has four stories, each representing areas of a real household. At each location, kids can add or swap out characters by tapping the icon on the bottom left. There are 10 characters in all, including the family’s favorite pets.

Just like a real house, each room in Pepi House is filled with various items. For example, the bathroom has a bathtub, towels, soap, and other toiletries. Kids can give characters an item to hold or interact with, and also move items around as they see fit. For example, they can feed characters with foods they find around the house.

To visit different floors, kids use the elevator in the middle of the house. The elevator can also be used to transport characters and items from one floor to another. Alternatively, kids can move between floors by tapping the arrows on the top right of the screen.

The Rooms

There are eight locations to explore in Pepi House. The first floor has the garage and backyard. In the garage, kids can tinker with the family car by giving it a fresh coat of paint, changing its tires, filling it up with fuel, and even taking it for a drive. In the backyard, they can play in the kiddie pool, lounge under the sun, mow the lawn, and water the plants.

The second floor is where kids feed their characters with food from the dining area. They can create the sandwich of their dreams, cook up a storm in the kitchen, and do the dishes when the characters are done eating. They can also move on to the living room to relax, listen to music, or watch the news on TV.

The third floor has a bathroom that is a reminiscent of Pepi Bath, complete with a shower, bathtub, and washing machine. On the other side, there is a bedroom for the family to sleep in. The bedroom also has a big wardrobe filled with various accessories, such as sunglasses and hats.

Finally, the fourth floor has an attic filled with all sorts of toys and a balcony where the family can have a barbecue. Naturally, there is a picnic table where the characters can sit down to eat their food.

Each room has lots of items to play with. For example, in the attic you can play the piano and paint on the canvas.

Parents Need to Know

As ever with digital toys like Pepi House, kids have complete control over how the app is played. There are no rules or objectives. Instead, kids can let their imagination loose to create various scenarios that include the objects and characters they find around the house.

Pepi House is also child-friendly. It has no in-app purchases or adverts for anything other than Pepi Play apps. There is a protected section accessible from the main screen, which provides helpful tips for getting the most out of the app. The initial download of the app includes all the content, so kids can play the app without an Internet connection.

Things I Like

Pepi House is a digital toy created to provide kids with utmost freedom over their playtime. Because there isn’t a plot to follow, they can tell their own stories about the characters in the app. They can also pick up objects and move them around to create the perfect setting for their stories.

While I always recommend you to play alongside your kids, the app is easy enough for them to use on their own. The interface is simple so it’s not hard to figure out how things work. Many surprises are also discoverable with a simple tap.

One thing I’d really like to see is more racial diversity in the character selection. This would increase the app’s appeal to a broader audience. I also think a record feature would be nice to have so that kids can show off their stories to family and friends.

Because the setting is relevant for kids, there is plenty of storytelling opportunities in the app. Perfect for ages 3-7.
