Have you ever wondered if you can turn your family pictures into a game that everyone in your family can play? You can with the help of Blue Bird Academy, a guessing game where kids swipe to reveal hidden pictures. You can add your own pictures and voice overs to the game and start playing a peek-and-guess game.
Swipe to Reveal the Hidden Picture
There are five game modes that you can choose from. The first two modes are quite straightforward: alphabets and numbers (from 0 to 20). The other modes are shapes (which includes 15 common shapes), everyday objects (which includes up more than 50 everyday objects), and the Picture Mode (where you can add your own pictures from your Camera Roll).
Once you have selected a mode, the game will show a picture that’s been hidden or blocked by a particular color. You can reveal parts of the hidden picture by moving your finger across it. The game will reveal the swiped parts in black and white, even though the actual picture may be colorful.
When you have revealed enough parts of the picture, it will be shown in its entirety and in full color. A voiceover will also explain the picture.
The game includes many objects, especially in the everyday objects mode. But if you want more pictures, you can always use your own pictures in the Picture Mode.
Parents Need to Know
Blue Bird Academy is created by parents who want to have a fun and exciting way for their kids to learn alphabets, numbers, shapes, and other common objects. Soon enough, the game is expanded to include more game modes and more languages. At the time of this writing, the game supports Spanish, French, Italian, and Russian.
The default settings will reveal all the objects in their default orders, e.g., alphabetically or incrementally. But, you can change this by going into the in-app parental settings menu. You can randomize the order in which the game reveal the objects, the range of numbers to include, and event hide the game modes that you don’t want your kids to play with.
The game works great without an Internet connection. It doesn’t have any third-party ads or links to social network. It offers an in-app purchase within the parental settings with which you can unlock more images from the Animal Pack.
Things I Like
The gameplay is very intuitive. Simply swipe one or more fingers anywhere on screen to reveal parts of the picture. When you have revealed enough, the game will show the entire picture and play a voice over stating what the picture is.
I immediately turned the gameplay into a peek-and-guess game with my family. Either by playing the common objects mode or the picture mode, we have enough objects to play the peek-and-guess game. Simply swipe a small part of the picture, and let everyone guess. The one with the correct guess wins.
With the picture mode, you can add any image from your camera or library. You can also add your own voice over in your own native language.
Blue Bird Academy offers a fun peek-and-guess gameplay for the entire family to play with. Starting by offering packs of letters, numbers, shapes, and everyday objects, the game expands itself by allowing you to add images from your Camera Roll and your own voice overs to accompany them. We really enjoyed playing Blue Bird Academy. It offers a great way for kids to pay more attention to details and for your family pictures to come alive in game mode.
