The world is full of stories. Some are big stories, while others are tiny. But the tiny stories can also be great stories, as evident in Tiny Great True Stories. Created developer Editora Caixote, it's a collection of heartwarming stories that can be enjoyed by young kids and kids at heart.

Three Stories in One App

Tiny Great True Stories contains three original stories that are supposedly based on real events, although further information about these events isn't disclosed in the app. Each story recounts of the time when people come together to help an animal or a person in need. For example, the story Sweater is about helping penguins that are contaminated by an oil spill. Another story, Bear's Tree, follows a young boy's efforts to befriend a lonely bear at the zoo.

All the stories in the book are beautifully illustrated by Oamul Lu, and enhanced with animations and interactive features. Kids can, for example, help the characters in the stories perform various tasks. These little interactions help move the story forward.

Each story comes with the options to read the story by yourself or have it read to you by a narrator. There is also a "Special Reading" mode that allows you to record your own narration. You can save up to six recordings for each story.

Parents Need to Know

The Tiny Great True Stories app contain stories that are suitable for ages five and under. They are short and sweet, and pleasantly narrated in a choice of two languages: Portuguese or English. Parents can change the preferred language anytime from the main screen.

The app has no third-party adverts, no in-app purchases, and no external links. If you are interested in downloading the app, please note that it's available in two separate versions: one for iPhone and one for iPad.

Things I Like

Tiny Great True Stories is a fantastic app. The stories are nicely written, and loaded with positive messages about compassion and kindness. They are also beautiful to behold with their pastel-colored illustrations. The delicate interactions, together with the soothing background music, keep kids engaged from start to finish.

The best feature of the app is that you can record as many six narrations for each story. You can, for example, get the grandparents or even the kids themselves to do a reading. The reading experience becomes special because your kids can still listen to their favorite person's voice even when they are apart.

As a suggestion, I would love to see Tiny Great True Stories available as a universal app instead of separately for iPhone and iPad. I would also love to learn about the real events that inspired each of these stories, perhaps in a special section that can be accessed when kids have finished reading.

Conclusion

Tiny Great True Stories is a great collection of stories: nicely written, beautifully illustrated, and packed with fun interactions to keep kids engaged. A recording tool allows you to add your own narration and personalize the reading experience. I highly recommend this app if you are looking for new stories to read to your kids.
