If your kids are fans of the Dr. Panda series of apps, they’re going to have a sweet time with this brand new app: Dr. Panda Candy Factory. As the name suggests, your kids can expect to create colorful candies, bubble gums, and chocolates at the candy factory.
Play with Three Different Machines Inside the Factory
When you open the app, you will see 3 different machines to play with. You can start with any one you like, but in this review I will go from right to left.
The first machine is the chocolate machine. Here, you can create chocolate designs and share them with Dr. Panda’s friends. To start, tap the green button at the center to dispense the chocolate onto the conveyor belt. Then, tap any of the two stations available on the sides to start making your creation.
At the station on your left, you can reshape the chocolate into any shape you want: triangle, square, circle, heart, star, and more. At the station on your right, you can add different ingredients, for example, white or dark chocolate. You can also decorate the chocolate using various toppings and stamps.
It should also be noted that you can move the chocolate back and forth between stations to achieve the design you want. Once you’re happy with your chocolate, tap the green button above the conveyor belt to transfer the chocolate to the serving plate.
The second machine is my favorite: the pinball machine. Here, you can play using gum balls while adding flavors or colors to them. Once you’re happy with your gum balls, just bounce them to the top pipes to serve them to the customers.
The last machine allows you to make tasty and colorful gummies. You can change the color and shape of the gummies, and even add interesting flavors like lemon and chili pepper. Feel free to explore and discover new kinds of candies and see what the customers react to them.
Parents Need to Know
The mini games in Candy Factory are not accompanied by written or audio instructions. The icons may be intuitive, but younger kids might need help figuring out some of the available features.
Similar to past Dr. Panda apps, Candy Factor features an open-ended gameplay with no scores, rules, and time limit. It’s purely about playing and exploring. I believe kids ages 4+ would enjoy playing the app and discovering what kinds of sweets they can make.
Dr. Panda Candy Factory works well without an Internet connection. It doesn’t have any third-party advertising and in-app purchases.
Things I Like
Dr. Panda Candy Factory has all sorts of creative gameplay that I would never have thought of. I guess when your goal is to be as playful as possible, Candy Factory is a good example of what you can achieve. Everything is designed to be interactive — including the mouse who comes to visit every once in a while.
My favorite game is, of course, the pinball bubble gum machine. It’s a great way to introduce your kids to the mechanics of a pinball machine if they’re not familiar with it. I also think the gummy machine offers a fun way for kids to learn about color mixing.
One thing worth mentioning is that the app supports multitouch, thus kids can play together with their family members or their friends on the same device. It’s a neat way to have them learn to cooperate and make things together.
My kids have so much fun playing with Dr. Panda Candy Factory. They love making candies, bubble gums, and gummies in different colors, shapes, and sizes. If your kids love to sweets and creating things, they too will love playing with the app.
