Have some unused things laying at home? Don’t throw them out just yet. After checking out the app Find Adventure, Alfie Atkins, you might just be inspired to turn your trash into treasure.

Let’s Find Adventure

Find Adventure, Alfie Atkins is a creative toy app that lets you craft various vehicles from everyday materials. You begin by unwrapping a gift box from Alfie, which contains a mix of materials like wooden planks, old tires, flashlight, etc. Depending on what you get, you can make a car, a boat, and even a helicopter.

To assemble the vehicle, drag the pieces to match the overlay. Once that’s done, you can paint your creation with any color or pattern you like. You can also wash your vehicle to get it squeaky clean.

Once you’re happy with your vehicle, it’s time to explore. Tap on the button on the bottom of the screen to bring up the map. Using your finger, drag your vehicle to move it around.

Some things you can do include sightseeing (the map is quite large), visiting Alfie’s family and friends, and tapping on flowers to make them bloom. You can also collect fruits, then share with the people you meet along the way to fill up your heart meter and unlock a new color or pattern. Finally, you can hunt for gift boxes so you can craft more vehicles.

Parents Need to Know

Find Adventure, Alfie Atkins is based on the Swedish children’s book classic by Gunilla Bergström. The purpose of the app is to inspire kids to explore their imagination and create their own toys out of everyday materials.

Like past Gro Play apps, this app has neither text nor audio instructions but includes visual hints and feedback. This allows players ages 2-6 to easily navigate the app with limited supervision.

The app has no third-party advertising and no in-app purchases. There’s a secured section where parents can read a letter from the developers. No Internet connection is required to play.

Things I Like

There are no rules and scores to keep in Find Adventure, Alfie Atkins. The gameplay is pressure-free, and focuses on exploration rather than achieving specific goals. I like that you can choose what you want to do in the app, whether it’s visiting Alfie’s friends or going as far as you can.

Speaking of travel, the app has a vast world to explore. If you’re in a helicopter, it’s even possible to fly to outer space and visit your friends on other planets. Since there’s so much to see, kids are likely to return to the app again and again.

A great thing about the app is its multi-touch support, which allows more than one player to play together. Of course the game can easily be played alone but this feature allows families to bond together.

Finally, I like that the app can inspire you to make DIY toys. With some extra preparation, I think it’s possible to create something as big as you see in the app.
