Have you ever imagined what your old classroom would look like if you can repaint and decorate it with colorful stickers? What would you do if you can paint your friend’s bag or change the teacher’s hair color?

Turns out, you and your kids can do all sorts of things in Art Gurus. In this magical classroom, you’re allowed to reimagine things the way you like it.

Customize 10 Items Inside the Classroom

The app offers 10 items that you can customize inside the classroom. Simply swipe to the left/right to browse the classroom and find the items that look like blank canvases.

For example, if you go all to way to the left side of the classroom, you will find a girl holding a white bag. Tapping on that bag will allow you to apply 15 different coloring pens and 18 different stickers. The other items that you can customize include a hand plaster, a globe, a backpack, a wall clock, a pair of boots, a wall painting, a canvas, a skateboard, and the teacher’s hair.

The coloring screen is quite straightforward. You can switch between using the coloring pens, the stickers gallery, or the magic wand. If you choose to apply the magic wand, the app will automatically apply colors and stickers on the canvas — overriding whatever changes you might have made to it. The magic wand is a great way to discover what you could make with the tools provided in this app.

Parents Need to Know

Art Gurus caters to a child’s curiosity and creativity. Kids as young as 2 years old can already use the app. With the coloring pens and stickers at their disposals, I believe kids would be able to create lots of fun drawings. At the moment the app only offers 10 items to customize, but I really hope the developers would add more items — or maybe a second scene — to the app.

If you ever find the need to reset the classroom into its original state, you can go to the Settings menu on the Home screen. Then, select the Reset Progress option to turn all the customizable items into blank canvases again.

The app works great without an Internet connection. It doesn’t have any third-party ads, in-app purchases, or links to social networks. Please note that Art Gurus requires iOS 8.0 or newer.

Tapping on the camera icon on the top right corner of the screen will show you the new look of your classroom.

Things I Like

When kids doodle, I believe they want to either express their creativity or experiment with new ways of doing things. Either way, I believe it’s a win for them. I’ve never imagined dying my teacher’s hair, but I think Art Gurus shows what is possible with your imagination. The same thing can be said for the hand plaster and wall clock. We need to let our kids be more creative, reimagining everything in their lives.

To keep the app as simple as possible, Art Gurus doesn’t offer a way to rotate the stickers. Instead, it will automatically flip the next sticker as soon as you apply one. So if the whale sticker you just applied is facing right, then the next one will automatically face left. It’s a smart way to maintain variety without adding unnecessary complexity to the way kids interact with the app.

If you ever find the need to reset the classroom, simply select the Reset Progress in the Settings menu. Everything will revert back to a blank canvas.

Conclusion

Art Gurus offers kids ages 2+ a new way of visualizing their preschool classroom. Suddenly, almost everything can be seen as a canvas — ready for your creative imagination to flourish. If your kids love to doodle on anything they can get their hands on, this is the perfect app for them.
