The Story

Dusty Crophopper is a small town crop dusting plane with big dreams of taking part in Wings Around the Globe Rally. To pursue his dream, Dusty practices his flying skill with help from his best friend, Chug the Truck. But they know they can't make it on their own, so they ask an old warplane named Skipper to coach Dusty. Unfortunately, he rejects them at first sight.

Nonetheless, Dusty continues his practice and makes it to the qualifying race. He even races the world champion, Ripslinger. Thanks to his hard work, Dusty qualifies for the World Rally.

Knowing that Dusty can't make it by himself, Skipper agrees to coach him. He points out that Dusty needs to overcome his fear of heights to compete with the world's best racers.

When the race starts, Dusty immediately faces his first challenge: an icy storm which blocks his way to Iceland. Because he's afraid of heights, Dusty chooses to fly below the clouds and gets slowed down by the storm. When he reaches Iceland, he's already falling behind.

After Dusty decides to drop his crop sprayer, he starts to fly faster and moves higher in the rank. This earns him attention from the media, causing Ripslinger to grow jealous. Humble Dusty, however, credits his success to his coach Skipper.

As competition gets more intense, Ripslinger starts to use dirty means to defeat Dusty. He tells Ishani, an Indian racer, to give Dusty a misleading tip. He also knocks off Dusty's navigation antenna. Can Dusty make it to the end? Who's going to win the race?

Things I Like

Planes Storybook Deluxe is a beautiful, animated storybook. It looks great, as expected from Disney. I really enjoy getting a sneak peek of the movie by watching the included short clips.

I also like the interactive parts of the story. The flying game is really well-designed. Even as an adult, I think it is really fun and engaging.

Another feature that I enjoy is collecting plane cards. Simply scan the Planes logo using the in-app camera to unlock one plane card a day. You can collect up to 10 plane cards in the in-app album.

Planes Storybook Deluxe is the best storybook I've read in a while. It provides an immersive reading experience through its amazing gameplay. My son Philip loves reading the story, as well as participating in the plane race. I know he will be excited if I take him to see Planes this weekend.
